About Kitts
A little history
Kitts was created in medieval times when a clearing was made into Wapsbourne forest and a house and barn were built surrounded by a garden and orchard (remains and fruit trees still visible). This is little Kitts. The two fields, kitts and long kitts were agricultural land.
The house stood until early 20th century when it mysteriously burned down. The layout and hedge rows remain unchanged for centuries.
The farm has been in the same family for 80 years and was bought when the Soames estate was sold off. It has grown many crops over the years from wheat to linseed but with the explosion of the deer population (up to 200 in a herd) agricultural use became unviable.
The change of use to a campsite has been a much needed and enjoyed diversification of the agricultural holding.
The campsite & new management
Kitts has been a popular campsite for over 10 years and is now being managed by the owners of established glamping company Loveabell.
Claire started Loveabell back in 2011 with just 3 bell tents and steadily grew the business that supplied luxury tents for music festivals such as Glastonbury and Boomtown, along with weddings and private parties.
Davy joined Claire in 2022 and brought a renewed energy to the company. Both Davy and Claire have always dreamed of opening a campsite so when the opportunity of managing Kitts came up they jumped at the chance and are very excited to welcome you all in 2025.
